The Jonah Hex Movie Gets a Villain, a Director and a Production Team
Things are coming together for the comic book adaptation, Jonah Hex. Originally snagged with shifting directors late last year, but since then the project has been steadily moving along. Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin is attached to star as the title character, and according to Variety he will be joined by John Malkovich, as the film’s villain, Turnbull.
Malkovich will play Turnbull, a wealthy Southern plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. He blames Hex, a former confederate soldier-turned-hardened bounty hunter and gunslinger.
Hex will be directed by Jimmy Hayward, who recently directed the comedy Horton Hears a Who. The film’s screenplay has been written by Crank writers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.
On the corporate side of things, Hex found a new producer in Legendary Pictures. The company will co-produce and co-finance the film based on the DC Comic.
