LaVar Burton Talks Trek, Twitter and Tattoos
TrekMovie.com has a great interview with ST:TNG’s LaVar Burton. He talks about his new Lifetime movie Taken in Broad Daylight, a couple of directing gigs he has coming up and a role in a play. I’m glad to see he’s going behind the camera. I think he’s one of the most production savvy of any of the Trek stars who have ventured into directing. They touch on his new blog and his recent Twitter habit, his really cool “Kunta” tattoo and most controversially, his recent unflattering comments about Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry. He waited until Gene’s widow, Majel had died to share his thoughts. The comment thread is pretty active about what he said.
I’m very happy to see LaVar on Twitter. He’s not as snarky or funny as Wil Wheaton or as witty and tech clueless as Brent Spiner, but he’s down to Earth. He shows real life better than most “celebrity” Twitterers do. A portrait of a man who loves tech, people, philosophy and cheap Pizza in LA. He even shares his birthday cake! But, you don’t have to take my word for it. (™)*
