Felicia Day: Queen of the Internets

August 6, 2009

6136_1201840768761_1310842626_30558102_6065345_n In case you missed today’s Forbes, there is a wonderful interview and analysis about Felicia Day and her brain-child, the highly successful Web series, The Guild.

I liked it for the fact that it approached the topic seriously, explained her show, talked about her Sprint & X-Box deals, broke down her ideas on the nascent medium and put a serious Forbes-ian (Forbes’d?) spin on it. A bit more substance in this interview.

When Forbes takes you seriously and devotes a very glowing story to you, you’ve made it! But we’ve all known that about Ms. Day for a while now, right? But it’s fun watching the rest of the world catch up. To: Forbes.com

Oh and over at Wired’s Geekdad.com (one of my favorite blogs) they featured a great post called: 5 Tips for Raising Your Girl Geek. I mention this not just that I’ve sent this to my daughters’ mother with an Urgent tag, but because of this quote from it:

If you’re daughter doesn’t have gal friends as school, you can encourage her to meet people at your church or other extended network. Also, teach her about all the wonderful girl geeks in history, like Ada Lovelace, Marie Curie and Felicia Day.

Great Crispy Fried Won-tons!! That’s some good company to be in. I can’t wait for the inevitable; Felicia Day in The Countess of Lovelace – Girl Geek: The Musical.

She has (moooostly) great taste in books, especially SF & Fantasy. Check out some of her latest recommendations on her blog.

Fantastic! Ms. Day is dynamic and certainly quirky, but she also makes quality shows. She’s very creative and being smart is always appealing. Glad that Forbes took notice and people are realizing there are great online shows (without commercials!) and this is another facet of the future.
