When The Silver Surfer Saved a Mediocre 80s Movie

The movie Breathless was a strange 1983 re-make that starred Richard Gere and the radiant Valérie Kaprisky. It’s good-looking, mediocre, fun to watch, and ended up developing an odd morbid humor. The plot of Breathless is simple: Jesse has to get out of Las Vegas quickly, and steals a car to drive to L.A. On the way he shoots a cop. When he makes it to L.A. he stays with Monica, a girl he’s only known for a few days. As the film progresses, the police get closer to him, and the crimes escalate. Jesse is a huge Silver Surfer fan, and Silver Surfer comics are featured prominently in the film, including one of the geekier romantic movie scenes ala good looking actors and the dialog of Stan Lee.
